Vermont Building Energy Code Updates

Reminder: Public hearings this Friday.

The Public Service Department has begun the next update to the Residential Building Energy Standards - RBES* (and to the Commercial Building Energy Standards - CBES) with the target effective date of fall or winter of 2023. The code update process includes multiple opportunities to provide input and feedback.

To develop the language submitted to the Secretary of State there were a series of Public Stakeholder Meetings over the summer. These meetings served to gather input and feedback from a range of stakeholders in the process of updating the codes.

Now, there are two public hearings scheduled, one for each code, on Friday, December 2nd, 2022. These meetings shall be held remotely via Microsoft TEAMS - meeting links below. Please note these meetings shall be recorded:

• CBES 12/2/22 10:00 am - 12:00 noon.
• RBES 12/2/22 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
